Rest Versus Grinding

Rest Versus Grinding

I want to share another work type. We will call it grinding. It is the opposite of Rest. There is something that Rest and grinding have in common, they both work. The difference comes in with the health of your physical body and relationships. Rest will preserve your physical body and your relationships while grinding will take its toll on both. I watched a documentary one time about a TV show I really liked. The stars talked about the toll the show had on their marriages. One in particular said he gave 2 marriages to the show. I have thought about that many times since watching that and wondered at the cost of starring in that show. Another documentary I watched was about a really popular singer in the 80s. He was really popular and had many number 1 hits, but it took a toll on his marriages. I remember him saying he was gone for many months at a time with no communication about when he would be back and finally his wife had enough. The Bible also talks about both of these work types in Proverbs 10:22, “The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.” Rest in this verse represents the blessing and grinding represents sorrow. Grinding will work, but there is a heavy toll and lots of regret. I am going to start defining what Rest looks like in the next couple of weeks, but next week, I want to share something else about grinding. Have a great week, and I will chat with you next week.
